Error performing inpage operation

I have a damaged hard drive from which I am attempting to
copy the data. When I try to open a directory containing
a number of files I get the Error perfoming inpage
operation message and the folder wont open to show its
contents. Is there anything I can do at this point?

You can run chkdsk and try again.
Other than that, data recovery may be your only hope.
