Error Moving File or Folder

I have an old Windows 98SE machine and a new Windows XP machine, both
connected to a switch via Ethernet. I want to move all my folders
from the Win98 to the WinXP. The volumes on the Win98 machine are
full shared. All but a few files/folders remain due to the following
error:

Error Moving File or Folder
|X| Cannot move file: Cannot read from the source file or disk.

I've ran scandisk on all machines without any errors. It doesn't
appear the attributes of the files or folders make any difference.
Help!

No, copying produces the same result. I just tried sharing the target
WinXP volume, then moving from the source Win98 (doing the
drag-and-drop from the Windows 98 box), but this fails too. I need
more ideas! Some of the files that won't move or copy are MP3, PDFs,
and other types.

What I found is that Windows gave this error whenever the name of the
file contained an apostrophe. Windows will copy/move the file on the
same machine, but refused to move/copy to another machine. Thanks to
all for the suggestion. If anyone can explain the apostrophe in a
filename, I'd appreciate it.
