Karl,

Thanks for posting the question. I thought it was just me. With rare
exceptions, I have been unable to even expand a thread to view it. I also
receive the same error when replying or navigating from one page to the next.

Unfortunately I have no idea why it is like this.

This is frustrating.

TraciAnn - Were you able to see my reply in your title bar thread?

try using news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.access

No. I didn't see it, but thanks for the information. I got a notice that you
replied to that thread but I got the error when I tried to open it.

When I use the msnews link it tries to use Outlook Express. My company has
all IT locked down really tight so I can't use my POP account to use Outlook
Express (or for discussion groups). Is there a way to use an internet account
(e.g. yahoo or gmail)?

I keep trying different threads but I can only see about 1 of every 20
tried. :-s

Go ahead and try OE ... it doesn't use your POP account for discussion
groups ... but ... if they do have the port blocked and OE can't connect
you can use Google Groups.

Also - a Google Groups search of microsoft.public.access for "newsgroup"
should turn up lots of alternatives.

Here's the text from my first post:
TraciAnn,

There are frequent problems with the MS Discussions web interface
reported here ... I never see them, as I access the newsgroup the
traditional way, from UseNet.

I'm using Outlook Express to read this newsgroup ... Thunderbird for
other forums. Since OE will not run on Vista (from what I understand)
you might wish to look at Thunderbird or other free newsreaders.

When I first visited any newsgroup I simply clicked on the newsgroup
link in Internet Explorer and the initial setup was pretty much
automatic .... of course, I've adjusted settings as I've become more
familiar with how things work.

This link should take you to the newsgroup in whatever default
newsreader is on your computer ... generally Outlook Express if you're
not running Vista:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.access

You can also use the Google Groups interface to microsoft.public.access
if you prefer.

I prefer using a newsreader to a web interface.
