Error message "... is not a valid Win32 Application"

I get the subject error message when I try to run a downloaded version of
the Windows Media Player (mp10setup.exe). When I try to open it directly on
download I get the message after about 9mb have downloaded out of the 12mb
total. Since I expect that the application is a Win32 application or at
least should be compatible with my XP operating system the problem must be
with my machine but I have no idea where to look or what to do. I have
scanned for viruses using latest updates and run Adaware to remove any
spyware. Any help???

First, save the setuo file to disk. This solves most problems. Then, you
need to make sure that you've download the correct file. There are newer
processors out there that use 64 bit code. They are backwards compatable
with older 32 bit(i.e.: win32) apps, but our 'old' processors aren't
foreward compatable with 64 apps. In other words, go to MS's Web Site to
download the media plaayer and make sure that you are downloading the
correct (win32) file.

I know 'cause I did the same thing downloading MS PowerToys :)
