Error message: IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module MSVCRT.DLL

Please can somebody (possibly Frank Saunders or Mike
Maltby) help with this error message when I try and open
most web pages in IE6. When closing the error message box,
IE6 immediately closes. Strangely though, just a few will
open without IE6 closing. If I open Windows Explorer and
type in a URL in the address bar, this changes Explorer
into Internet Explorer and the page can be loaded, but if
a link on that page needs to open another window, it
tries, but I then get a blank second window and the link
address is not loaded. According to the Windows
faultlog.txt the full content of this message is:-

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module MSVCRT.DLL at 016f:78003b44.

I have searched the KB but there doesn't appear to be an
entry that specifically refers to this, but reference is
made to the C++ runtime libraries. I have tried
installing the runtime library for Win98 which appears to
be the only one mentioned, but it doesn't replace
MSVCRT.DLL file.

Situation now desparate!

Have you ruled out parasites.

If you add http://www in front of the url can you get to the sites?
If yes then it's probably this one. Get the removal tool.

Hi Henri,
I have tried adding http:// before the web address but the
result is the same. I am wondering if a wrong version of
msvcrt.dll is being used on my machine. According to the
DLL version help it should be 6.0.8397.0 but it is
6.1.8637.0 which is the Windows ME installed. I have also
run Ad-Aware 6 and SpyBot Search & Destroy both with the
latest updates. I originally found the problem after
installing FxMPEG Writer v 8.70, but uninstalling this
didn't improve the situation, nor did a System Restore.
