Roxio Easy Media Creator and Nero are the names of the two most popular
CD burning programs. Look through your Start menu to see if you have
these or any other CD burning programs. Windows XP also has its own
built in CD burning capability.

I can't help you resolve an error message when I don't know what program
is displaying the message.

Hi, your problem can be the result of bad heads or (dirty) on your CD drive,
which when the head Reader try to read the clusters on your CD it can't see
anything so you get the error mentioned.
Try to clean your Drive by runing a CD cleaner you can buy from even supper
market these days and clean your CD-ROM and CD Player, DVD Player.
Or go to Device Manager and Remove the CD Drive from there and see if it
been duplicaated or have Red X or Yellow exclamation Marke on it Reboot and
windows will detect it and install the driver for it from the list of vendors
which listed in MS database.
Did you tried another clean formated CD disk, are you able to read from CD
player.
HTH
Please write back with your outcome
Regards
nass

What kind of CD are you using -- CR-R or CD-RW?

For a CD-R, you need CD burning software to copy the files permanently to the
CD. Usually the software is bundled with the CD drive; if the computer was
bought with a CD drive installed, check your Start | Programs menu.

If you want to use a rewritable CD-RW, you additionally have to enable DLA
(Drive Letter Access) and format the CD-RW using a DLA format to enable access
of the CD like another hard drive for drag-and-drop copying. This function is
usually included in the software bundle, but you must enable DLA on the
right-click menu from Explorer for the CD drive.

I had the same problem and what I did was right click on the drive, click
properties, and enable the device to record. A simple fix to a stupidly
frustrating problem.
