Error message Generic Host ---

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs
to close.

This message has recently shown at boot up on my fairly new
notebook.(Windows XP Media Center-Intel Pentium 1.70GHz-760MB Ram)

How can I stop it ?

Start Run tasklist /svc

Might show you the program that's causing the problem.

Thanks Pop,
At Start Run I get "cannot find tasklist or cannot find tasklist /svc"
dependant on whether or not I leave a space after "tasklist"

any thoughts ?

It happened on my PC. It has something to do with an automatic update.
I fixed mine by turning off automatic update, reboot, then manually go to
Windows updates and install the update, turn on automatic updates and
reboot.
Hope it works.

OK! Ladydove, I have folowed through with your suggestion.As the error
message showed up at random intervals I shall have to wait and see!
