Error message 384

Hi,
I wonder if someone would help me. My problem is, without warning, I
got the following error message when started my computer today, "Error
384 a valid dll file was not found". I didn't remove a program or
anything that might have caused this, that I can remember. Now it comes
on every time I restart the computer, I click ok, then the message
disappears and the computer works. But the message is annoying, so I
tried the trouble shooting wizard on XP (I am running XP pro) and went
through the recommended steps; going to the system config. utility,
checking the systems, and eventually I found that a startup item was the
problem. It turned out to be a file named MPRexe32.exe. When I
unchecked it and restarted the computer there was no error message.
After I found it I didn't know what to do about it. The trouble
shooter said to check with the company that produce the item causing the
problem, but the MPRexe32.exe says it's a Microsoft file.
Eventually I went to another computer(laptop)and found that there was
no MPRexe32.exe file so, I checked the System 32 folder in my computer
and there was this MPRexe32.exe file. When I opened it, the error
message 384 came up. I decide to just remove the file from the system32
folder and, if the computer crashed, then I would use system restore.
After removing the file, I found that there was no error message on
restart and I can't find that the absence of MPR file has made any
difference. I have the file in a folder on the desktop, just in case,
but does anyone know if I have done something that will eventually
damage my computer? If so, I can put the file back but, then how do I
stop the error message from reoccurring, if it comes back?
Sorry for the long winded explanation. I would appreciate an answer.
Thanks,
FC
