Error installing with windows encryption enabled

I have Windows XP service pack two, and a lot of my hard drive was encrypted
with windows EFS. When installing, I got an error, something like "Device
not found". After decrypting all files on my HD, the error went away and I
was able to install. Sorry I can't be more specific, but try encrypting the
"Documents and Settings" and "Program Files" directories, and you might get
the same error when installing.

Thanks--you're the second person to catch this bug. It appears that if the
TEMP folder--which is below a hidden folder in the Documents and Settings
subtree--is encrypted, you get this message.

If you want to, you can unencrypt \documents and settings\username\local
settings\temp
and all subfolders of temp--that should eliminate the error, as I recall
from previous investigation.

I have a knee-jerk reaction whenever I hear of someone using EFS to ask
whether you've properly backed up your keys, and have practiced what is
necessary to do to recover your data in the event of disaster, or a repair
install of the OS--which are synonymous, with EFS involved?
