Hi all,

I'm trying to install Windows XPe SP2 Embedded Studio. Here is my setup:

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
Only computer in a workgroup, which I'm using just for testing.
No AV, Backup etc installed, so it's absolutely vanilla.
Computer name: WINXPE-SVR
C:\ = 6GB basic disk which only has the OS, MSDE and WinXPe installed
E:\=6GB dynamic disk which holds the repositories

I have installed Disk 1 and Disk 2, ie SP1 and have now moved on to Disk 3,
which is SP2. So far I have been able to successfully do the following:
- Database Engine Update
- Tools Update

When I try to perform the Database (as opposed to the Database Engine)
Update, it gets all the way through and then at the end comes up with a
screen that says the following:

Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2 Installer

Copying 'Windows XP Embedded Client (x86) Service Pack 2' repository files
to f:\Repositories\{67C85615-B0C5-42EA-8B8A-E8AB47DB2B1D}
Copying 'Windows XP Embedded with SP2 QFE Repository' repository files to
f:\Repositories\{3DC166E5-E335-49D9-8C75-450318AFD940}

Import succeeded.

Not sure if this will help or not, but there is an updated version of
MSDE2000 on officeupdate.microsoft.com. I think it's newer than the one on
the CD... oddly enough. :)

Hi JC<

Thanks anyway, but I'm not using a CD> I'm using the 120 day evaluation
copy, which requires me to download XP Embedded (yes that's something like
750MB worth...)

Any other ideas anyone??

I've got a similar problem but I get a not enough disk space error at
the end....yet I have 40+ gigs of free space. Does anyone know if I
can safely copy the setup folder that is created and manually import
the files via the Component Database Manager after the setup package
fails again?

Update:

I was finally able to get XPe SP2 tools and database to update on my
development machine by following the steps outlined here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...stallingWindowsXPEmbeddedWithServicePack2.asp

Or you can do a search on the msdn site for: Installing Windows XP
Embedded with Service Pack 2

The two main problems I was having was not having enough memory so I
needed to increase my swap file to 1GB and then I was not deleting the
repository folders:

{67C85615-B0C5-42EA-8B8A-E8AB47DB2B1D}

{3DC166E5-E335-49D9-8C75-450318AFD940}

After doing these two steps I could get SP2 to run.

I noticed after that SP1 of the .NET Framework 1.1 does not get
installed. You need to install it via the valueadd directory to get
what appears to be the prerelease.
