what it is telling you is that it cannot find your
windows 98 system, is or was your copy of windows 98 a
legal copy, it is asking for the 25 digit code in your
system. this is a small part of the reason , If you have
your original win 98 cd and the code, then that will cure
part of your problem with the install, If you have a
standalone copy of xppro then you really don't need to
upgrade win 98 you can formatt and install xppro.. but
all things have to be equal, by that I mean you can not
use old hardware , it just will not work. this is the
truth not trying to be rude of funny , k, all hardware
has to be fairly new and bios on motherboard up to date
