error initializing MAPI

I am attempting to export messages from OE6 using a Compaq
Presario and Windows 98. I select file/export/messages
and then get the following:
The export cannot be performed. An error occured while
initializing MAPI.

Any idea how to resolve? Thanks.

The OE6 export messages function will export to MS Outlook or Exchange only.

If you don't have one of those applications installed and configured
on the same machine, you will get the MAPI initialization message.
