Error in importing PST files

I have been using Dell laptop with Windows XP Professional verison. I created
three PST files from there.Now I am trying to import those PST files to my
new HP laptop with Windows home edition but I am getting the error message:

THE FILE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS VERSION OF THE PERSONAL FOLDERS
INFORMATION SERVICE.PLEASE CONTACT YOUR ADMINISTRATOR.

Somebody please help me in retrieving those PST files getting back the email
messages.

Are you using the same version of Office/Outlook on both machines? Reason I
ask is that Microsoft Outlook 2003/7 can create PST files that are not
compatible with Microsoft Outlook 97/98/2000/2002.

And the version of OL on both PC's?
Sounds like OL2003 format > OLearlier version.
And importantly using export/import functions on a pst is a quick way to
coruuption/loss of data.
With OL closed copy the pst
In OL File>Open>Data File
PS no need to post err in caps - no need to shout your frustration
