When trying to disable a connection from connections folder a message appears:
"It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection
may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-play, or it
may have been initiated by another user or the system account."
I have this problem with my wireless as well as my lan connection. The only
way to disable/enable them is through the device manager (maybe because those
changes are done through "local system" account, as the error message
reports), and not through network connections folder.
Trying to enable the connection through network connections folder, a
"connection failed" message appears.
This strange behaviour must have appeared after an installation of a windows
hotfix, not knowing exactly which one.
Cryptographic Services have been accused for this problem in other forums
too,
however cryptographic services in my computer are in automatic mode, and
this setting has never been altered.
Stopping and restarting this service and/or windows does not solve the
problem.
Uninstalling the device from the device manager and then reinstalling it
(with and without reinstallation of drivers), does not solve the problem
either.
This can be considered serious not in terms of network device unusability,
but in case a windows update is causing this abnormality.
Anyone who knows the exact cause or the solution to this problem is kindly
requested to post a reply, as this is a pretty common issue.
Finding and removing the possibly bad windows update could prove an
impractical solution.
(This problem has been covered before, without a solution, as the only
advice was enabling the cryptographic services)
