error could not load because MSOE.DLL error

Plse help.
Lost my access to Outlook. Coming up with "outlook express
could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded"
I went to acticle 272265 which states my problem. It says
that somehow I have different versions of outlook. It
refers to acticle 256219 to manually uninstall & reinstall
outlook express 5 but first back up the outlook file. This
acticle doesn't come up on the MS help line. Problem
started after loading update for outlook from mircosoft on
line. How can I back up the file that I can't open?? Whats
the proceedure on acticle 256219 ?? Am I going to loose my
outlook files that I need ? Any help would be appreciated.
