error codes at blue screen of death

Hi,

I have a win xp home pc. From a couple of days, when the computer has
been runing for about 5 minutes, it crashes and I see the blue screen
of death. This is what it says:

disable BIOS memory option like caching and shadowing (I have no idea as to
what these are).

*** stop 0x000000F4 (0x00000003 0x82ff7820 0x82ff7994 0x805fa7ab)
begining of physical dump memory.

Once I restart after the crash, it fails to locate the hard-drive and so
does not bootup. I have to wait for like 10 mintues before I the PC boots up
again.

I have no idea as to what is happening. Can anybody help me out? I will
appreciate it.

Back track from when this started to happen, did you install any new
software? any new hardware? Have you tried to use system restore?

My first thought is that the system is over heating. Open the case and check
the CPU fan. You want to get some compressed air and blow out all thge fans,
power off, of course.

I would also try to get into the BIOS on bootup, usually the del or F1 key,
and see if you can set it to a default or safe level. More info on your
system would help.

I did install a couple of updates from Microsoft. I will try system restore
tonight. I will also open the case and clean it up. If these things dont
work, I will check try logging in using the safe mode. I will update you guys

For some reason, system restore did not work. It gave me an error that the
system could not be restored to the chosen point. I tried several different
"restore" points, but failed. What should I do here to make system restore
work? I cleaned the fan, and disabled a few programs from boting up, for now
the system seems stable. I will enable programs at boot-up one by one and see
how it goes.

One weird that has happened though: there is no sound on the computer. I
checked in the device manager, the audio drivers are all working fine (no
yellow flags). I uninstalled/reinstalled turtle beach, but still no sound.
Can anybody help me out and suggest things I should try?

Hi,

I would advise you to follow this microsoft article which explains the issue
that you are facing.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330100

I am pretty sure that it is a hardware fault and there is some kind of
configuration mismatch when you installed the updates. This article will
certainly help u giving some suggestions.

Please let me know in case you need any other assitance.
