I have downloaded the new Windows Defender package but when I try to run it a
message with Error code 1305 "verify that the file exists and that you can
access it". Would be grateful for any ideas on solutions.

Thanks

Suggest you temporarily disable the installed antivirus product prior to
running Windows Defender's installer.
To what location was WD downloaded to and which firewall is being used ?

Thanks for responding, Steve. I did disable antivirus, but still had the
same result. The download location is Program files and my firewall is
eTrust (a CA product). Hope you can help. Regards

Hi Bill

Thanks for the advice. Tried it - same error code and message. Anything
else I can do?

I would suggest looking to Windows Updates. Seems as though in my situation,
I saved the program to the computer instead of running it and it gave me the
same error. Tried to do a clean boot but the same error persisted. Checked my
windows updates and there were issues. Was recieving an error: Error
0x8DDD0004. Checked the wuauserv and it was off, turned it on, did some
windows updates on the computer. Did a lot of windows updates and then
installed Windows Defender with no problem at all! :)

Thanks--the newsservers are presently malfunctioning, and I can't read the
rest of the thread you are responding to, but I suspect you have this
right--thanks for posting!
