Error Checking stops running

Hi, I was running 2 applications that used modem, EZ Voice and Skype.
System crashed, I restarted, and just to be safe, scheduled an Error Checking.

On windows restart, it starts Error Checking, BUT, it stops scanning after 3
or 4 seconds, and it just freezes.

I reboot, same thing.

I rebooted with Windows XP CD, and cliced "R" to repair, entered DOS, and
tried to run chkdsk from there, and same thing, it starts, and freezes.

Windows XP opens fine, but now I'm concerned.

So, it seems Error Cheking files are corrupt - is there a way to copy them
from windows XP CD?
Thanks.

There is an option of F8 ,that if my memory is correct, that deletes windows
error restart. That should relieve you from this problem. Then test error
checking again. If it re-issues the same errors , then

I also recommend. Well, I would download dignostic utility from your hard
drive manufacturer and run it. If you don't know the manufacturer of the
hard drives name and hard drive number/name Open up help and support and
search for "using device manager" Open the + for disk drives. That will have
the manafacturer and device Search the internet with that info and download
the dignostic utility.

I'm not saying you have hard disk problems. It just pays to download this
and have it available before you have a problem
