error-checking dynamic volume

I have an up to date copy of Windows XP Pro and have a problem error
checking a dynamic volume. I use the disk's properties menu to mark the
disk for checking at boot but no check is done at the subsequent boot. Is
checking the disk at boot something which cannot be done with dynamic
volumes?

I didn't know it was possible to disable error-checking on a volume. How do
I access this flag?

That wasn't the problem. I even tried explicitly putting "autocheck autochk
/P \??\D:" into the registry and it didn't check the disk!

Then I would suspect you have installed some software that interferes.
SpyDoctor or some such?

But I don't have any problem with scanning my C drive. If there was some
installed proram interfering with it wouldn't it interfere with both drives?

Sorry, based on earlier posts there was no indication that you were not
having an issue with your main drive. And what happens when you just
chkdsk? why boot time?

I was using the Windows Explorer menus to check the disk. It told me the
disk was in use and asked if I wanted to schedule a check at boot time. I
just tried using chkdsk directly from a command prompt and it gave me an
option to force a dismount to check the drive. I took that option and
chkdsk ran successfully. I now know how to check the D: disk but even
though it is no longer urgent I would still like to know why autochk won't
check it.

Thanks,

Autocheck won't touch the drive while the system is accessing it.
Dismounting takes care of it.
