Hi..
I have created the .pst file by copying it from the data stored location
eg:(C:\Documents and Settings\admin.SALARPURIA\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook) & now when I'm adding the .pst file onto a different
computer by selecting Data File Management & adding the .pst file it gives a
error message saying .pst is not a personal folder file.Kindly help & oblige.

Thanks & Regards

If copied to a CD did you change the CD File copy from Read Only after
loading to Current Hard Drive? You must do so to use. The experts will want
to know (1) What Outlook was the PST file Copied From (2) what Outlook was it
placed into? (3) Doubt it matters but what are the From and To Operating
Systems?

Sounds like you damaged it in whatever process you used to transfer it
between PCs. Was Outlook open on the source PC when you made the copy? How
did you transfer it to the second PC?

Hi Brain,
No Brain the Outlook was not open at the time of copy,I have transfered the
..PST file through the Network, but this is not the first time that I'am doing
this I have done this number of times on the other PS's in my office where
I'am working as a System Admin.

Thanks for ur feedback.

Hi Craig,
I have copied the PSTover the Network from 1 PC to another PC & I have
checked the file properties for Read Only & I'm sure everything is fine. The
PST file is copied from Outlook 2003 and placed into another PC with Outlook
2003 running on it.The OS on both the PC's are Wndows XP Pro.

Ordinarily, that process should work. Nonetheless, it's fairly clear that
the PST was damaged in the process this time and once you get the "not a
personal folder file" message, chances are the PST is toast, unless one of
the commercially-available PST recovery programs can fix it.
