Auto Update downloaded a driver update. Failed to install. Error message
80070103 that driver not compatiable with system. On reboot, system does not
start and have to use the restore point. How can I eliminate this update from
system and prevent from downloading again? I have turned off auto install
and checked the "ask me" to install box but that only gives reminder to
install which I have to cancell.

running Vista Home Premium on Acer 5100 AMD turion 2x 64 with 1 gb mem.

Device manager does show the ATI 4379 Serial ATA Controller installed on
machine. Is a Bus adapter.

You can 'eliminate' that the update by hiding it. Simply go to Windows
Update in the Start Menu or Control Panel, click 'View availiable updates'
then right click the offending update and select 'Hide Update' (that driver
update that isn't compatible with Vista).
