error 7716

john

I have XP Pro and it starts and gets to the desktop on
startup and then restarts over and over and over after
about 5 times I get this pop up
( internet c tree (R) error 7716 )
I tried to put the XP CD in to see if it would start from
that but no luck, I don't even know if I can get XP off
the hard drive to reinstall it. If anyone has a fix for
this please let me know.
Thanks John

You have some kind of database loading at startup that was written with the
C-Tree programming language. That's all I can tell you about that error -
that and that the error is not from Windows. It is from another program you
have loaded in your XP environment. Have you checked Event Viewer to see if
there are any references to a particular program in relation to this error?
(To start Event Viewer, use Start> Run and type eventvwr.msc)

I would love to try that but system restarts to fast to
get into the start menu, restarts just after the welcome
sign.
Thanks John

John, try starting in Safe Mode. No extra programs load there so you should
be able to stay logged on. Try unchecking items in MSCONFIG for clean
normal boot. Doug Knox has a handy program called startup tracker that
might be helpful to you: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_starttrack.htm

some looking around I found that it had to do with
Backweb 8876480.exe application, I looked into that and
found that it was a program with my Logitech cordless
mouse, I removed the programs that had to do with that
part of the program and did a reboot of the system and
everything is working like it should, and thank you for
the site info. I will look into it.
Thank You So Very Much.
