Just bought a new Linksys Router (WRT54G) to replace the old one (Linksys
BEFW11S4) over my cable modem (Comcast).
I've been using PPTP to link from my Windows XP Pro to a Windows 2000 server
at the office which has a Linksys BEFW11S4 connected to a DSL
(Earthlink/Covad using PPPoE). The office has the PPTP passthrough set and
is set to forward the correct ports to the server.
This has been working flawlessly until I connected my new WRT54G here at
home. Now it makes the initial connection with the server and then hangs at
"Verifying Username and Password" until it times out with error 628
(terminated by remote computer).
I have switched back and forth between the two home routers and the result
is always the same: the old one works and the new one doesn't. (Although I
swear it worked one time with the new router - but I couldn't reproduce it
in subsequent attempts).
I have even tried turning on DMZ on the new router to open up all ports to
my computer.
Anyone have any ideas?
