Error 553

Bill

I am trying to configure Outlook 2002 to use a POP
account hosted under a domain name I purchased. When I
set up the account in Outlook I can successfully send a
test message to myself. I can receive messages from any
other account, no problem. However I cannot send a
message to any other address. I get the message "553
sorry that domain name does not exist in my rcpthost
file". I ahve called support fromt he company I bought
hte domain name from and I hav called support from
Adelphia whoI ahve high speed internet access from, and
who host the outgoing mail server. Neither support group
can help solve this problem. Any suggestions?

Bill,

From your example it appears you are attempting to send email from
(e-mail address removed) and using the SMTP Server at Adelphia.net as your
email or pop3 server.

From *my* experience in the past most hosts of pop3 servers do not allow you
to "relay" from thier server, which from your description you are attempting
to accomplish. Most POP3 administrators intentionally disable this
function to deter "spam" from being distributed through thier servers.

I suggest you add the POP3 Server from firstprovider.net to your email
account configuration within Outlook and use the firstprovider.net server
for outgoing email when ever it is neccessary for you to use that email
address.

Hope that helps.
