error 503 No recipient(s)

I am using Outlook 2003. I can receive emails fine but cannot send anything
(new, replies or forwards). I get an error message saying
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 3/11/2005 11:54 AM
503 No recipient(s).

No email ever leaves the computer. This seems to happen more when I go into
suspend mode. Reinstalling used to help but now that doesn't fix it anymore.
Any ideas anyone?

Are you properly authenticating to your outgoing server?

Thanks for the reply. Yes - I was authenticating fine. I eventually found it
- it was completely different. Turns out I had a blacklisted (spamming) IP
address (temp address from my ISP). I disconnected and reconnected (and was
given a new temp IP address in the process) and the problem disappeared.
Magic!

Thanks for posting the solution Jonathan. I had the same symptom. I
went to my router and disconnected/reconnected from the ISP. The
problem went away!
