error 50: The request is not supported. Help.

Howdy,

XP, SP1. P750 w/512 RAM

Installed brand new USR 56K Modem. Dials, connects,
vrifies UN/PW. Then

"Error 50: The request is not supported"

Uninstalled, reinstalled. Rebuilt DUN, Checked all
applicable services. Still no joy.

Checked with ISP provider and USR. Both point to MS
problem. Diag on modem checks ok.

Thoughts?

Have you rebooted since rebuilding DUN?

I've spent 15 minutes googling for it, and can't find anything solution
wise, which pulls me over to the faulty hardware side.
