Error 3101

Hello,

I am using access 2000

When entering a new record on a subform I receive the error:

Run-Time error '3101':

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find a record in the table
'Clients' with key matching field(s) 'CustID'.


I want to be able to create a new record using the subform. I used VBA to
add the new record to the table (if it doesn't already exist), however while
it creates the new record perfectly, I still get the same error. I tried
using Me.Refresh but all this did was invoke the error straight away.

Can anybody help me with this? Maybe there's a whole different way to go
about this.

You must have a customer record first. That is accomplished by starting a
new record on the main form, not the subform. Always choose or add the
customer first.

Ok that was probably a bad example, but is there no way of making an entry
on a subform that creates a new record in the source table?
