Error 1324

When attempting to uninstall Norton Antivrus 2000-2002, the operation is
aborted when 'Error 1324. The folder path 'My Pictures' contains an invalid
character' is returned. As a result, I unable to install Norton updates
and/or a more recent version of Norton Antirus software.

Actions taken: ran a Anvir Classic virus scan (numerous files infected by
virus or unwanted software found and quarantened); Windows XP Chkdsk /f
(several bad sectors found and repaired on primary hard drive); Windows
Add/Remove and Start/Programs/Norton Antivirus 2000-2002 uninstall attempts
(failed, due to referenced error 1324); ran system restore (twice) but error
remains; Dell technical assistance unable to resolve problem, suggested
backing up files and reinstalling Windows XP SP2. Note: desktop (Dell
Dimension 2350) recently upgraded from SP1 to SP2.

Can anyone suggest or recommend a simpler solution? Would appreciate any
help offered.

Thanks.
