Error: 1324 and Invalid Character

I just recently installed Service Pack 1 on XP (Hebrew Enabled) and I think
I am having trouble as a consequence. (I am the only person who uses this
machine.) Because when I tried to install RoboHelp X5, I am getting the
following error(s):



Error 1324. The path Portugu?s(Portugal) contains an invalid character.



This is followed by a second error message:



Error -1603 Fatal Error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help
(Msi.chm) in MSDN for more information.



I have looked high and low in the XP Registry and cannot find the string or
the invalid character they mention for the life of me. Second, I have never
used Portuguese.



I have used up all the other additional advice I have found on the Web too
such as logging in as Administrator, to no effect.



Could someone please give me some solid advice that is easy to implement?

I tried that but unfortunately things are really different on my
computer. The Microsoft knowledge base article (834484) talks about
"granting full control permissions to the SYSTEM account." (Actually,
before I received error code –1603, I received Error 1324. May'be
that's more relevant.)

Well, I was the only user on this XP Home Edition (HE Enabled) so I
never needed to use, create, or log-in as an Administrator account.
(Sometimes they talk about Administrator accounts, and sometimes they
talk about SYSTEM accounts – very confusing!) This found me having to
create an account with Administrator rights, so I tried that but the
instructions and my computer are not the same.

This whole process of logging in as a different user, in order to
install software (at all) or from the web in particular is foreign to
me!!
Does this now mean that each time we want to install something from
the Web we have to go through this entire rigmarole to do so? Was this
the real purpose of XP SP1, because I never had to do this before? If
XP SP1 had made such dramatic changes in the way one has to do things,
then why weren't any announcements made when this darn Upgrade thing
was installed?

Are there any clear instructions on installing applications from the
Web (under XP SP1) since this has certainly been the most confusing
thing I have come across from might Microsoft!!!
