error #109 with PM8.0 . What can I do?

G'day people
I use Win 98 and recently was given a 40M USB hard drive which had
been formatted with Win 2000 in NTFS format. I used Partition Magic
8.0 to change it to a Fat 32 format and happily started transferring
from archive CDs to this drive. I decided after a week that I wanted
to split this up into a 20M and two 10M partitions but PM would not
load Ctrl-Alt-Del said it was't responding. When i ran PartitionInfo
the report told me I had the following error:
Error #109: Partition ends after end of disk.
ucEndCylinder (4864) must be less than 4864.

I accept that I can't repartition this drive, but it still sems to
work. Is this a 'serious' error, ie will the disk crash at any stage ?
Should I reformat now using Win 98 ?
I am really a novice at this stuff and would appreciate any advice
thank you

Unlikely the disk will die, it is a logical error probably. Still you may
want to examine if it can be fixed, once fixed you;ll be able to use PM
again as well. Creating a partinfo would be the first step (see PM manual
for directions on doing that). If you want you can email me the partinfo
textfile.

Q: Didn't PM wan to fix it? Did it prompt you to?

G'day Joep
thanks for replying... PM wouldn't even load;the program just hangs
and doesn't respond... I have to Ctrl-Alt-del to close it. I will
email you the partifo textfile now, thanks for the offer

same problem :(

Hello!

I have the same >Error #109< with my data-partition!!!
"Error #109: Partition ends after end of disk.
ucEndCylinder (19456) must be less than 16709."
I can access to all my data, it works perfectly, it´s only PM that shows wrong!

PM 8.01 detects the partition as ?o? or sometimes ?m?, shows correct capacity, but in PM it seems as the partition was full.
Win2k shows correct drive name, capacity, usage and data.

chkdsk /f showed a good partition and chkdsk /f /r had nothing to do!

Screen of PM:

Screen of PartitionInfo:

Please help!

edit:
Did further research, obviously the mbr of this partitions is f***ed :(
I'm now saving all my data on two other drives and will try to fix it with FIXMBR
