error 100a

ok i have Vista on my PC but i wanted to install XP because i hate Vista. I
read in the help section that I could do this so i put in my XP disc and
started to install. It did a reformat, then the install, then reboot and
keeps doing this cycle over and over. I tried installing Vista again and i
get Error 100a and I've searched for 100a and i cant find what it is. Help!!!

Hi,

XP cannot install on a Vista-created and formatted volume due to some small
changes in the implementation of the file system, though it can read them
just fine. When you boot the XP disk, at the point where you choose the
installation location, you need to delete the existing system volume and
create a new one, then format it (quick is ok) and proceed with setup. Other
volumes on the system can be left as is, it's just the system volume that
needs to be recreated.

Make sure the manufacturer of the pc has XP drivers available for the
hardware before doing this reversion, as some newer machines do not support
having XP installed on them. Also, there is a potential that this downgrade
may void your warranty, or that the vendor may require that you reinstall
the originally supplied operating system before any warranty work can be
implemented.
