error 0x8004210B with OL2003/SP1

Hi

Over the last few days I've had a problem sending emails with large ( >
3mb?) attachments. I eventually get this message:

Task 'Mycompany - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation
timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'

The message still stays in the outbox and looking at the router, it still
thinks it's sending something and this continues even if I shut Outlook
down.

My AV is set to not check outbound emails. Ordinary emails with no, or
small, attachments get sent OK. Until a few days ago all was OK. My ISP
claims all is Ok at his end.

Googling tells me this was a problem with OL2002 pre SP3, but no mention of
it with OL2003.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Found the problem - it was the latest build of Avast antivirus - even when
supposedly not checking outbound emails it was interfering with them ...

Andreas, please stop using this newsgroup to promote your site. If you
want to help people, work with them in the newsgroup to resolve their
issues so that *everyone* can benefit, rather than just pointing them to
your site.

I'm sorry that I made an assumption about your reasons for pointing people
to your site - it was unjustified.

However, it's much more helpful to both the people you're responding to and
to others who read the group if you either put the response in a post to
the group or at least point to a specific page on your site rather than
your whole site.

There are several reasons for that. First, people coming here for help
often are don't really understand email or Outlook and therefore don't
necessarily have the trouble-shooting skills required to determine which of
the pages on your site are relevant to their situation. That's where those
of us that help in these groups come in - helping people narrow down their
problem.

Also, those of us that do respond to posts here read responses to issues we
know about both to keep an eye on the validity of the response (and to
correct it if it's wrong) and to learn something that we didn't know. Just
pointing folks to a broad website defeats both of those goals.

Hi Jeff,
okay, you are right.
I try to do my best, to support them here in the newsgroup.
Sorry for making problems!
Thank you for your request!
