Error 0x80010534

Hello,

Config = windows 2000 pro french sp4 with up to date microsoft antispyware
beta1

I tried either to upgrade from microsoft antispyware or full re-install
windows defender beta 2...
I still have the 0x80010534 error !!!

I find strange that since the error were first reported problem is not
resolved !!!
So I decide to completely uninstall microsoft antispyware ....

Please notify me the next time one release of Windows Defender is quite
stable and unbugged.

In a few seconds my config will be updated : beta1 will be removed !

Hi,

Windows update promted me to update to Defender some days ago. Latest
version 1347. It worked great on my XP Pro computers, but I'm having problems
on my Win2000 Pro computer, a problem reported several times here but not
solved. (Application failed to initialize 0x80010534). I have swedish
versions of the OS. Also the latest Windows Installer (kb893803). I also
added the gdiplus.dll file to system32 as suggested somewhere.

So, on the Win2000 computer, I have had to uninstall Defender. Beta1 is
removed and I can't find it to download and reinstall. I thus have no
antispyware program running on this computer...

Seems like there's a problem for Win2000, or at least foreign versions of
it. Please notify when and if this problem is solved, or how to fix it.

Hi Granville!
Checkout the post "WinDefend Service Failed to start - FIX!?" posted on May
9th. It solved my problem on Windows 2000!!!

Thankyou Eric, the fix worked but it doesn't stick after rebooting. At least
a temporary solution till MS decides to fix this bug?
