erratic mouse operation

just got an optical trackball mouse (MS intellimouse)
it worked fine for a day then started operating erratically.
when I am moving the ball the cursor stops and starts.
sometimes it just jiggles around.

installed new HD and have been installing sw, but I stoped most of the
running sw and it still is erratic.

connected to PS2 port.

tried the tiltwheel intellimouse and it started doing the same thing,
but I thought it might be the mouse.

now I don't think so.

using v4.1 of the MS mouse sw. which came with this trackball - better
than 5 which came with the other mouse.

it may have done this with the ball mouse I replaced, but I blamed it
on dirt in the ball.

what is going on???????????????

Never mind - it was a piece of lint over the sensor.

I think wireless mouses are no good - I tried for 2 years with them and went back to the wired mouse. The wireless drove me crazy.
