Epson Stylus Color under Windows XP problem

Hello,

I have a problem configuring my old Epson Stylus Color Esc/P2 printer
(860a) under Windows XP. When using the native driver it keeps printing the
characters PM on the top left side of the paper. Does anybody know why this
is and what to do to get rid of that? Thanks. Oh, by the way, it didn't
gave any probs in Windows 98 SE.

So it didn't give any problems with Win 98SE.. Epson, and NOT Microsoft, are
responsible for the drivers.. try www.epson.com for XP drivers.. if you
can't find them there, e-mail Epson and tell them about it..

Hello Mike,

thanks for your answer. I was thinking about mailing Epson but I don't think
they will reply because it's an old printer. But I will try that option
anyway.

I think that the peripheral device manufacturers are hoping that people will
dump their old printers for new ones.. the introduction of XP did what the
printer companies couldn't in the past.. it allowed them to enforce
'obselescence' by no longer fully supporting older stuff.. the same can be
said of scanners too.. however, new printers are faster, so don't tie the
host computer down for so long, and they are more ink efficient than older
ones.. it may be time for you to consider changing.. whatever you decide,
good luck..

You will be pleased to know that your "History is only the
past..." has been added to my growing compendium of
stupid e-mail signatures, in the "Profound Thoughts"
category. Congratualtions!
