Epson printer re-ink tips/tricks?

L

Larry Fieman

I've been re-inking HP printers for >15 years with good results. I had an
Epson about 8 years ago that clogged when I refilled it. IIRC, it finally
unclogged when I removed the cartridges and then poured alcohol into the
print head.
This new Epson C84 that Apple threw in with my iBook has ink that is
"water-resistant, smudge-resistant, light-resistant DURABrite Ink." Sounds
like pigment based to me. (Cartridge #s: T043120, T044120, T044220, T044320,
T044420, T044520)

I'd appreciate any suggestions for keeping it running smoothly and
economically. Any advice on re-inking or why I should not re-ink?
TIA,
Larry

These are new pigmented inks for the C84. Supposedly they have solved the
problem that pigmented inks have with printing black on glossy photos. I
don't think there are any refill kits available yet, but www.inksupply.com
is a good place to look. You might want to check in on them from time to
time.
Good luck.

I don't know about Epsom, but Cannon printheads with fiber pad tanks
behave nicely when Windex is used as a cleaner and as an ink solvent.
