Epson GT8500 Parallel Scanner

Can I get this scanner to work after upgrading to W2000?
Connected to LPT2, legacy enabled. Epson say they can't
help, it's an MS problem - 2000 doesn't accept //el
scanners!; MS don't seem to mention it! System is not
recognising scanner as Plug & Play & won't allow manual
install. Thanks, Bill

Epson writes the drivers. IF they don't write drivers to make the
scanner work in Windows 2000, then it's not going to work.

Thanks - I've been around that loop. Epson do write the
drivers, but they say that Win2000 does not recognise
scanners using a parallel port. The problem is I can't
find anything admitting this on the MS site & don't want
to pay $99 for them to tell me 'it is not a fault, it is a
known functionality deficit' as they did once before! So
I'm here looking for a workaround.

Perhaps I'm a little thick. If Epson said Windows 2000 won't run
scanners off the parallel port then they are full of it. We have a
PLUSTEC scanner running on a parallel port just fine in Windows 2000.
Are you saying that the drivers that Epson wrote are designed to run the
scanner on Windows 2000 through the parallel port BUT it's not working?
If you have the parallel port setup properly AND the Epson drivers are
working properly then it will work.

Bob, If you're thick, I'm thicker! It's just a pity I
can't get MS to say that Epson are talking rubbish, or
Epson to talk to their contacts at MS. Why should it be
down to me, the innocent customer to sort out two global
companies? I'll take your comments back to Epson. Thanks
for your help & rational thinking.
