Epson C84 problems

I tried to send for the document from Arthur Entlich about underhead
cleaning but got a kickback on the email address for him.

My printer printed fine last night - this morning, the paper moves and the
print head moves, but no ink on the paper - repeated nozzle cleanings have
only exhausted the black ink - before the black ink ran out, when the status
showed it had 20% black ink left, the alignment patterns didn't even print -
any suggestions?

How frequently do you use the printer? While all inkjets have some
tendency to clog when going unused for a long period of time the Epson
is most notable for that. What model do you have?

C84 - it printed fine last night - then this AM a FedEx label didn't print
cleanly - a re-print had an almost blank page - not it's out of black ink,
but even before it ran out of black, alignment patterned wouldn't print,
test page wouldn't print except for a little bit of blue - any suggestions?

Arthur's document may yet be the best source of information. All I can
suggest is to spray some Windex (Window cleaner with ammonia) on the pad
where the head parks when not printing.

How did it happen? Unless all the ink just happened to run out at the
same time, your problem could be caused by turning off power to the
printer through a system master switch, rather than using the switch on
the printer. The printer has a power-off sequence that can't be executed
if power is simply killed.

The cartridge is empty, never mind the 20% showed.
Install a new one.

You may have used an old address or an incorrect one, as I seem to be
getting my email just fine.

Please try again with the following address:
