EPS Thumbnail View?

Tony

Hi All,

We've got a few folders with images in various formats. When I switch to
thumbnail view, I can see the thumbs for images in each format except EPS.
Does anyone know if there is a setting I'm missing or if MS (or a third
party) offers a plug-in that will allow EPS thumbnails to display?

Thanks & Ciao,

Tony

XP and MS don't. Though office can if there is a preview stored in the file. In the past I've used Word's File Open dialog as a graphic manager. If using a file open always right click not double. I've not used it with EPS but have with CDR.

Hi David,

Thanks for the info. I'm using PhotoShop and have tried to save with a
preview according to the Help instructions, but to no avail. I also tried
the way you suggested via Word and a line of code exists that looks to me
like a preview is stored with the image:

%AI3_DocumentPreview: PC_ColorTIFF

But still no luck. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Tony

You might need to install the eps filter in word. Ask adobe if they have a thumbnail viewer for XP. They might want you to use their pathetic thing they offered with the new version or acrobat reader. That would do it I'd imagine.

Hi David,

I did some looking around on Adobe's member's only support site and it looks
like any EPS file saved with a version of PhotoShop (which we're using)
later than 7.0 has this issue. One of the people posting to that thread
created a reg hack, but I couldn't get it to work. It appears that there
are a lot of people who miss this functionality & are upset that Adobe's not
addressing the issue. It sounds like MS is pointing the finger at Adobe &
vice versa.

So, I now throw my hands into the air. It's not that a big deal, anyway.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Ciao,

Tony

I loathe adobe. I'll say that again, I loathe adobe. I could say this all day.

Anyway did you look at this piece of adobe crap
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalbum/starter.html

It's free. I looked at it a while ago and was underwhelmed. Wondering what, if anything, it could do that explorer couldn't. Maybe show eps thumbnails is one thing?

Anyway I hate adobe. What's really frightening is that I'm comfortabe in acrobat reader (I read a lot of technical and history books in this format). Now that I don't let integrate with IE it doesn't crash (you try and find your place in a 600 page book, esp as I may have 3 open and up to 30 html book length pages open - I read one by one till I finish so some may be open for a week or two.) Netscape 2 used to do this to me as well. My web site contains anti netscape code as revenge.
