Entering times

I'm trying to enter elapsed time in cells by entering 0:4:30 (4 minutes, 30
seconds). when I look at the formula bar it shows 12:04:30 AM. The cell
formatting is set to time 37:30:55 (I've also tried 13:30). How do I get
the data to enter properly?

Thanks,

Brad

As far as I know, you cannot change what is in the formula bar.

Your formatting will affect how it looks in the cell.

By the way, you can also enter your time as 4:30.0

The problem is that when we copy the spreadsheet to a PDA is shows up and
4:30:00 AM.

The problem is that when we copy the spreadsheet to a PDA is shows up and
4:30:00 AM.

I just tried the following:

I entered 4:30.0 in A1.

I saved the workbook to my PDA documents file.

I sync'd my PDA.

I opened the file on the PDA using Pocket Excel.

A1 still shows 4:30.0.

If I change the format, I can get A1 to also show 0:4:30 or any of the
variations. (The formula bar will still show 12:04:30 AM but, as I said, you
can't do anything about the format of the formula bar).

So I cannot reproduce what you say happens on a Pocket PC running PC 2003.
