English default language in ppt in French

Ray

Hello,
I need some help in changing my default language in Powerpoint 2000.
The version installed is PowerPoint 2000 in french and I would like to
change my language by default only in Powerpoint to English (us)
When I do it (Tools/language/English (us) then click on language by default)
it works fine in the current document. But If I open a new presentation,
then, my default language is still French.
I do not understand how to resolve this pb
thanks for your help

PPT picks up the default language from your keyboard, I believe. If it's set
to French, your default language will be French.

Hi, I checked the keyboard settings in the Control panel. It is a standard 101/102-key or Microsoft natural PS/2 Keyboard. Device Status says This device is working properly. The computer is a Dell with XP O/S loaded at the factory

Try Control Panel, Regional and Language Settings (XP) or Regional Options
(Win2000) or Whatever Sounds Closest To That (Other Windows Versions).

Yep been there done that, doesn't work. It seems like I have to manually change all the text boxes to English. Which is a real pain. Why doesn't the slide master REALLY work and allow me to set the default back to English? Everytine I check another slide, the dctionary goes back to French! This is ridiculous! Chalk up another to Microsoft.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint only provides the ability to change selected text to a specific
Language ID setting and, since you cannot always select all text in a
presentation at the same time you cannot change the language ID of all text
in a presentation in one step (without using VBA or add-ins).

Q245468 - Sample Code to Change the Language ID of a Text Box
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=245468

In addition, text entered using the keyboard will use the regional keyboard
language layout settings (overriding the settings from the menus).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that there should be
additional language setting/detection/etc. features in PowerPoint, don't
forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
