English Date Format anyone?

I have a date from a mail merge filed (from access database) which uses US
'and' UK date format depending on the date - i.e.

12 april 06 appears in US - 4/12/06

6th April appears as UK - 6/4/06

it doesn't matter what date formatting I apply

End result is - of a single batch of letters, some have US date, some have
UK

Is this a documented bug?

I have VB so i'm not opposed to any programming to put it right

If the data with the dates arein an Excel document, you can format the date
column whichever way you want. That is, if you enter 6-4-04 and the format
is the US-version d/m/yy, it will appear as 4/6/04. If your data are in a
Word document, it's harder to do.

From the Tools menu in Word, select Options and then go to the General tab
and check the box against the "Confirm conversions at open" item. Then when
you attach the data source to the mail merge main document, you will be
given the option of using the DDE method of connection which should read the
data as you have it formatted in the table.
