Endless problems with XP SP2

Hi there,

About 2 weeks ago my I received my first of many errors to follow. I can't
see my network connections, I can't access my firewall settings, I can't run
windows installer then I receive error message: windows installer service
could not be access this can occur if you running windows in safe mode or if
the windows installer is not correctly installed. I have windows installer
3.1. I receive numerous COM+ errors one being: The COM+ Event System detected
a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 80110474 from
line 44 of d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please
contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.
Another error EVENT ID 43: WMI ADAP failed to connect to namespace
\\.\root\cimv2 with the following error: 0x80110474. I can't view my system
information via Component Services and the list goes on.

I got this laptop in FEB 2006 and it came with XP SP2.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit)
OS Version: 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2

Could someone please help me, I've read on the internet that my problems
could be related to SP2 but if my laptop came pre-installed with SP2, I can't
just merely unistall SP2 and revert to SP1 as I do not have SP1.

Thanking you in anticipation!

Regards

have you done a THOROUGH scan with two or more updated mailware and spyware
removers (Spybot and Adware are the favourites) and an updated anti-virus
program?

Hi Gordan,

Thanks for the reply. I ran spybot last night. Nothing found. Will run
Adware and antivirus now. Will keep you posted.

It's only 2 months old, so it should still be covered. Did you try taking
it back where you bought it and having them look at it. If they say "The
operating system needs to be reloaded" without even looking, run!

I ran Adware and found the following threats:
Alexa 5 1 1 28-04-2006
Possible Browser Hijack attempt 3 1 1 28/04/2006. I ran spybot again and
spybot reported I have a clean system. I also ran my anti virus program and
no virus were found. All seems to be clean.

Do you think there's a problem with the notebook? It's a Fujitsu siemens
Amilo Pro, if I had a choice I dpn't think I would have chosen this notebook
but hey if you getting it for free from your boss, who am I to complain? Well
I'm complaining now, as I can't even go into the help and support on my
computer..... It's frustrating!!!
