Ending process in Task Manager doesn't end it

I'm having some issues with the task manager. The biggest culprit will be a
game like Halo or other programs if they encounter an error and lock up my
machine. I can ctrl-alt-delete to bring up the task manager, and then I can
close the process and the program goes away, the process however does
not(with no message saying it failed to close it), and keeps eating memory
until I restart my computer. I've tried KillProcess with no luck and I'm
beginning to wonder if its a problem with vista, or either Zone Alarm or
Nod32.

I've tried ending process, and the tree, I've tried just logging off, but
its still there, the only method to clear it out of memory is to reboot.
Even turning off ZoneAlarm and Nod32 doesn't help task manager do its job.

When you used Task Manager to end the process did you press the "Show processes
from all users" button?

I too have this problem, and I wish I didn't because having processes that I
have to restart the computer to get rid of are annoying.

If it does turn out to be ZA, I'd remove it in a heartbeat, this is annoying.

Instead of using "end process" try "end process tree". Right click on the
process for this choice.
