I have the exact same problem that you have. No sound. I have tried
everything. I am going to take my computer to the Best Buy Store and let
the
Geek Squad fix it. I have spent too much on line with so called Help
Support
Nuts that just charge money I really could not afford to pay. Spent more
than the Geek squad would have cost me. I understand the Windows XP Home
edition did not put a repair mechanism in their recovery CD. I tried that
too! Computer needs audstub.sys audio codec that is in the Windows XP
Home
Edition CD Rom. To purchase this will cost $60.00 or more and might not
work. I have already spent more than that on line. I think Windows
played a
dirty trick on us consumers by preprograming our PC's and omitting to
include
the XP CD in our package if we needed to reboot. I understand it had
something to do with them having to rewire some components or something
for
the XP CD to work. I am a senior citizen and I am starting to sound like
a
computer geek instead of a grandma. I am totally disgusted. The display
picture on my monitor is awesome...just....no sound!
