Encryption

I have a laptop, I got it about a month ago for work. I
used the Encrypted File System(efs) to help secure these
files from prying eyes.

Now being a good boy I backed up my files every week.

I also did the maint that needed to be done, and in doing
so I found a problem with the new HD, so the manufaturers
sent me a new one.

I didn't think much of it, new hard drive, put it in, and
did a recovery, sent the old hard drive back

now I don't have the old hard drive, but I have all my
files, PROBLEM: I can't access the encrypted files
because my SID and or my private/public key are not the
right ones that they were written with..how do I fix this
without the original profile?

thanks

Did you make a backup copy of your private key

"Exporting and Importing EFS and DRA Certificates and Private Keys

"As added protection in the event that a user's certificate or private key is damaged or lost, certificates and private keys can be exported. The certificate is stored in a file with a .cer extension, and the certificate and private key are stored in a password-protected file with a .pfx extension. These archive files can be stored on a floppy disk or other medium, and can be imported easily from these files.
