ENCRYPTION OR ENCODING?????

Hello..
I am seeking general information about encoding and
encryption.
I am aware that certain system files and some Windows
files may be encrypted for scurity reasons.
My question is... how or what do I look for to be sure
that digital signing..and or encryption methods are
not being used on my computer by anyone for concealing
or hiding messages and files?.
Are there certain dlls that show this and how do I remove
the programs associated with them?
Any "smart" help would be appreciated!!

Candace, the only strategy that would work in this case is to make sure that
files aren't encrypted or hidden in the first place. This would be done with
a combination of technologies including security policy and file security.
Once another user has had unfettered access to the system, its exceedingly
hard to go back and look at every bit of the computer for concealed or
protected data.

If you think this has happened, perhaps a good strategy going forward would
be to create a new secure system and migrate known good data there.
