Hope this group will have an answer and help.
Installed MS Encarta 2007. Took a lot of head scratching and searching to
solve my problem.
For some strange reason my computer developed a problem where folders and
shutdown would take a long time to close. Shutdown or reboot would take 90
seconds to close, folders a little shorter. This would occur after the
computer would be on for a while, length of close or shutdown depended on he
length of time the computer was on.
Through some trail and error I discovered in Add\Remove Programs the
installation of .net framework ver.2.0 and version 1.1. Didn't think I
needed two version of .net framework, removed version 2.0. By shear chance I
tried to use Encarta 2007 and discovered by removing .net framework 2.0 I
could not use Encarta 2007. Reinstalled Encarta 2004 and it seems my delay
in closing folders and shutting Windows XP problem seems to have
disappeared.
Anybody else have this same situation and solved the problem by not removing
..net Framework ver2.0 and Encarta 2007.
Hate blow $50 on Encarta and not use it. Can only return for the same
program, no benefit there.
Appreciate any comments, suggestions. TIA.
