Enable DMA transfer

I am uploading video from my old 8mm camera using USB Videobus II. The
picture I am getting is a bit rough and the installation manual says I should
enable DMA transfer for hard drives to improve the quality.

I don't know how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction
for this or provide another suggestion as to how to improve the quality of
picture

Also the picture is displaying in black and white, is this normal? Will it
show in colour when I burn it to a DVD
