Empty Message Boxes

I have a problem w/ my Windows XP, which just started yesterday. The message
boxes that are displayed are empty. The title of the box appears, but the
text for the message, and the button do not appear. But, when I copy the
message box and past it into notepad, the text in the message box is
printed. Can anyone help me w/ this error.

Did you change your settings and accidentally make the print the same color as
the background??
right click the desktop
properties
appearance
